Editors' Duties

Publication Decisions

The Editor-in-Chief is responsible for deciding which manuscripts submitted to Isyarah Journal should be published. Editorial decisions are based on the manuscript's scholarly merit, originality, significance, methodological rigor, and relevance to the journal's focus and scope. Decisions are made without discrimination and in accordance with applicable legal requirements regarding copyright, plagiarism, and defamation. The Editor-in-Chief may consult with members of the Editorial Board and reviewers before making a final decision.

Manuscript Review

Every submitted manuscript undergoes an initial editorial screening to assess its suitability for the journal and compliance with submission requirements. Manuscripts are then checked using plagiarism detection software to ensure originality.

Manuscripts that pass the initial screening are sent to at least two independent reviewers through a double-blind peer-review process, in which the identities of both authors and reviewers remain anonymous. Based on reviewers' recommendations, manuscripts may be accepted, accepted with minor revisions, accepted with major revisions, or rejected. The review process is conducted promptly while maintaining the quality and fairness of the evaluation.

Fairness

Editors evaluate manuscripts solely on their academic merit, originality, and relevance, regardless of the authors' race, ethnicity, gender, nationality, religious beliefs, institutional affiliation, or political views.

Confidentiality

Editors and editorial staff must treat all submitted manuscripts as confidential documents. Information contained in manuscripts must not be disclosed to anyone other than the corresponding author, reviewers, editorial advisers, and the publisher as appropriate.

Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest

Editors must not use unpublished information obtained through submitted manuscripts for their own research without the authors' explicit written consent. Editors must avoid handling manuscripts in which they have conflicts of interest.

Reviewers' Duties

Contribution to Editorial Decisions

Peer reviewers assist editors in making editorial decisions and help authors improve the quality of their manuscripts through constructive and objective feedback.

Timeliness

Reviewers who are unable to complete the review within the requested timeframe should promptly inform the editor so that another reviewer can be assigned.

Confidentiality

Manuscripts received for review must be treated as confidential documents. They must not be shared, discussed, or used for personal advantage.

Standards of Objectivity

Reviews should be conducted objectively and professionally. Personal criticism of authors is inappropriate. Reviewers should provide clear comments supported by academic arguments and evidence.

Acknowledgment of Sources

Reviewers should identify relevant published works that have not been cited by the authors and notify the editor of any significant similarity, overlap, or possible plagiarism between the manuscript and other published works.

Conflicts of Interest

Reviewers must decline to review manuscripts if they have conflicts of interest arising from competitive, collaborative, institutional, financial, or personal relationships with the authors or organizations associated with the manuscript.

Authors' Duties

Reporting Standards

Authors should present an accurate, honest, and objective account of the research conducted. The manuscript should provide sufficient detail and references to enable others to understand and verify the research. Fabrication, falsification, or intentional misrepresentation of data constitutes unethical behavior and is unacceptable.

Originality and Plagiarism

Authors must ensure that submitted manuscripts are entirely original. The use of others' ideas, data, or words must be properly cited and acknowledged. Plagiarism in any form, including self-plagiarism, is strictly prohibited.

Data Access and Retention

Authors may be requested to provide raw research data for editorial review and should retain such data for a reasonable period after publication whenever possible.

Multiple, Redundant, or Concurrent Publication

Authors should not submit the same manuscript or substantially similar research to more than one journal simultaneously. Duplicate publication is considered unethical and unacceptable.

Acknowledgment of Sources

Authors must appropriately acknowledge the work of others and cite all publications that have significantly influenced the reported research.

Authorship

Authorship should be limited to individuals who have made substantial contributions to the conception, design, implementation, analysis, or interpretation of the study. All eligible contributors should be listed as authors, while those with lesser contributions should be acknowledged appropriately.

Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest

Authors must disclose any financial, institutional, or personal relationships that could influence the interpretation of the research. All sources of funding and research support must be clearly acknowledged in the manuscript.

Fundamental Errors in Published Works

If authors discover significant errors or inaccuracies in their published work, they are obligated to promptly notify the Editor-in-Chief and cooperate fully in correcting or retracting the publication when necessary.
