Islam and Local Wisdom: Integration of Cultural Values in Islamic Education
Keywords:
Islamic Education, Local Wisdom, Cultural ValuesAbstract
This research explores the integration of Islamic principles with local Malay cultural values in the education system of East Tanjung Jabung. Employing a qualitative multiple-case study design grounded in acculturation theory, the study investigates three distinct Islamic institutions. Findings from interviews, observations, and document analysis reveal that Berry's integration strategy is the predominant model, fostering a dual identity among students. Furthermore, the study identifies clear manifestations of cultural hybridization, resulting in unique syncretic educational forms that shape a cohesive cultural-religious identity.
