Abstrak

This study explores the use of majaz (figurative language) in Surah Al-Baqarah verse 19 and its relevance as a reflection of educational methods. The verse employs symbolic imagery—heavy rain, darkness, thunder, and lightning—to describe the internal confusion and fear of hypocrites when faced with divine truth. Using a qualitative approach and content analysis method, the research examines the types and functions of majaz in the verse and connects them to principles of Islamic education. The findings reveal that the figurative language in the Qur’an serves not only an aesthetic function but also an educational one, stimulating imagination, critical thinking, and emotional engagement. This suggests that majaz can inspire contextual and affective teaching methods in moral and character education. By reflecting on how the Qur’an conveys values indirectly through symbolic language, educators can adopt more meaningful strategies in delivering educational content. Thus, Qur’anic majaz proves to be a powerful model for developing pedagogical approaches that integrate intellect, emotion, and spiritual awareness.
